If you need to amend the date, time or location of your ceremony, please contact us as soon as you can, and we will do our best to help you.

18 months to 1 year before the big day, you should be thinking about and organising:

• dresses and shoes
• deciding on colour scheme
• hairdresser and make-up artist
• research and book: music, disco, bands, photo booths, outdoor games, children's entertainment, evening food providers
• research and book florist
• research and speak to photographer and, or videographer
• hire cars
• consider taking out insurance for your special day
• send out save the date cards
• cake booking or planning

1 year before your special day, you should:

• decide on suits and talk to suit companies
• plan hen and stag celebrations if you are having them
• plan your honeymoon if you are having one
• check passports are valid for honeymoon and stag and hen parties

9 months before the big day:

• check driving licences are valid and show correct address for legal notices of marriage or civil partnerships

6 to 9 months:

• give legal notices of marriage or civil partnerships in the district where you live
• choose your rings, if you are having them
• decide on gifts for those supporting you, if you are giving them
• plan your gift list

Your big day is fast approaching! 3 months before, you should:

• pay any outstanding fees due to the registration service
• if you chose bespoke ceremony, the registrar will talk to you about ceremony options
• choose the readings
• send out invitations
• choose who your witnesses will be on the day
• plan and write speeches and personal vows

1 to 2 months to go, you should:

• have your hen and stag celebrations
• complete the ceremony options on your booking and email any readings you wish to include to the Register office
• chase late responses and plan seating arrangements

1 month to go:

• buy a guest book
• break your shoes in

Not long to go, 1 to 2 weeks before your big day is the perfect time to:

• have your final dress fitting and collection
• collect outfits for your supporters

Some final bits to do:

• prepare envelopes for cash payment services
• copies prepared for readers

• check the documents you will sign very carefully
