A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (BREP)

A38 Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (BREP)

The A38 is one of Worcestershire's most important strategic transport routes.

The A38 through Bromsgrove has faced heavy congestion for many years,  especially during peak times. With more homes and development planned across the area, traffic pressures are expected to increase further unless action is taken.

The Bromsgrove Route Enhancement Programme (BREP) is a major investment designed to build network resilience by improving traffic flow, reducing delays, and make travel safer and more reliable for everyone who uses the route.

What the programme includes

  • upgrades to key A38 junctions to improve capacity and reduce congestion
  • better walking and cycling routes, crossings, and links to schools and residential areas
  • improved bus priority measures to support public transport
  • safer, more reliable journeys for residents, businesses, and emergency services

Why it matters

Without these improvements, congestion on the A38 and surrounding roads is expected to worsen significantly in the coming years, with longer journey times and increased pressure on local roads and motorway connections.

The programme will help:

  • improve journey reliability and reduce delays
  • support future housing and economic growth
  • encourage more sustainable travel choices
  • improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists
  • future-proof Bromsgrove鈥檚 transport network

The programme is now over halfway complete

We understand roadworks can be disruptive and are working closely with contractors and utility companies to minimise inconvenience wherever possible.
