Volunteering

Volunteering can be a great way to gain confidence, develop your own skillset or use your existing skills and knowledge to help others. Volunteering can also help improve general health and wellbeing, providing opportunities to stay connected with others and develop a sense of purpose and achievement.

91ÖÆƬ³§libraries offer a variety of volunteering opportunities to support delivery of library services and special community projects:

• Customer service volunteer - meet and greet library customers / shelving, tidying and processing stock
• Digital champion volunteer - provide digital support to library customers and use IT knowledge to support community projects.
• Library service at home volunteer - choose books and/or deliver them to customer’s homes
• Library events volunteer - help run regular or one-off library events – in physical spaces and online

Young volunteers needed for 91ÖÆƬ³§Libraries' Summer Reading Challenge

91ÖÆƬ³§Libraries are on the lookout for enthusiastic young volunteers, aged 13 to 24, to embark on an exciting journey this summer.

This will be a fabulous opportunity for your students to gain valuable skills and experience, make new connections, and most importantly, have fun! All volunteers will receive comprehensive training and ongoing support from our dedicated library staff.

91ÖÆƬ³§Libraries are seeking dedicated volunteers to contribute a minimum of five hours of their time over the summer, assisting library and learning staff in delivering this year's Challenge. Last year over 165 young volunteers completed an impressive 1,200 cumulative hours.

Among them, three volunteers contributed their hours from SRC activities towards their Duke of Edinburgh Award accreditation.
