As part of our Clean Hands, Safe Hands campaign, the 91ÖÆƬ³§Public Health Team are offering the opportunity to participate in our Hand Hygiene Interactive Training Sessions.

The sessions are designed to promote the importance of good hand hygiene and are suitable for schools, care homes and other workplaces. With a surge in cases of Norovirus and Flu nationally and locally there has never been a better time to educate people on effective handwashing. Good hand hygiene can help to prevent the spread of infections, including norovirus, salmonellosis, and respiratory infections, such as influenza, colds and Covid-19.

The Clean Hands, Safe Hands campaign has been supported by radio promotion, podcasts and new posters.

As part of the new campaign, our team are offering the opportunity for interactive training sessions. The sessions will take approximately 1 hour to complete and will be carried out in person by the Public Health team.

About the sessions:

• sessions can be carried out at any setting including education settings, care homes and other workplaces
• the session will be hosted by the Public Health team at each setting
• the lessons are tailored based on the setting
• the lessons will teach candidates why handwashing is important and how to wash and dry their hands effectively
• each session will be interactive and will include the opportunity to demonstrate effective hand washing using an Ultra Violet Lightbox
• a UV gel is applied to the candidates hands which they will then be asked to wash off, when they then put their hands in the lightbox any areas which they have missed will glow
