Discounts and Forces Friendly Schemes

Details of local and national discounts for veterans and members of the Armed Forces Community.

If you are a veteran or part of the armed forces community, there are a number of national and local initiatives that could save you money.

How to prove entitlement

You may be asked to show one of the following:

  • Military ID
  • HM Armed Forces Veteran Card (digital or physical)
  • Certificate of service
  • Blue Light Card

For free bus travel

Veterans and serving armed forces personnel across 91ÖÆÆ¬³§will be able to travel for free on buses from April.

The new scheme provides free travel on the county’s commercial bus network and the 91ÖÆÆ¬³§on Demand service for veterans and serving personnel who do not already hold a concessionary bus pass.

The scheme will be running on all 91ÖÆÆ¬³§on Demand service from 1 April, whilst it will come into force on the commercial network from 13 April.

The scheme is run along the same principles as the English National Concessionary Travel Scheme and provides free travel on any local bus service in 91ÖÆÆ¬³§at all times on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays and between 9:30am and 11:00pm on any other day.

To access free travel, veterans will simply need to show their Veteran Card, while serving personnel can present their Military ID.

The Hive Café (the café at the Hive) - 10% discount

The Hive Café in Worcester offers a 10% discount for serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and Blue Light cardholders. Show valid ID such as a serving personnel ID, HM Armed Forces Veteran Card, certificate of service, or a Blue Light Card.

The Orchard café (The Orchard) – 10% discount

The Countryside centre café offers a 10% discount for serving Armed Forces personnel, veterans and Blue Light Card holders. Show valid ID such as a serving personnel ID, HM Armed Forces Veteran Card, certificate of service, or a Blue Light Card.

Transform Counselling UK – 10% discount

Transform Counselling UK offers a 10% discount on counselling services for members of the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, veterans and their families.

The service also provides low-cost, short-term counselling delivered by fully insured trainee counsellors in Worcester. Support is available for adults experiencing mild to moderate difficulties such as stress or overwhelm, anxiety, relationship or life transitions, self-esteem issues, work or study pressures, and low mood or lack of motivation.
