Fostering stories: Why we chose to foster with the Local Authority
Mel and Rob transferred to 91制片厂Fostering in 2025 and have said the decision transformed their experience of fostering.
鈥淲e decided to move to fostering with the Local Authority as it felt like a better fit for us and aligned more closely with where we are as a family. The transition has enabled us to become involved more quickly with children who need placements, which has been really important to us.鈥
They said the matching process has felt very thoughtful and collaborative: 鈥淲e鈥檝e really valued being able to reflect on the age range that suits our family best and where we feel most able to contribute. That鈥檚 helped us feel confident that we can offer consistent, committed care to the children placed with us.鈥
One of the key benefits of fostering with the Local Authority is the local support available. We run a range of regular support groups across the county, as well as events and activities for children and young people.
Mel and Rob also described the strong sense of community they experienced since moving to the council: 鈥淭he most incredible thing has been the noticeable community within the SMILE and peer-led groups. We always feel there is someone to turn to.鈥 Mel and Rob are now passionate about encouraging others to explore fostering with the Local Authority to join the supportive team they are proud to be part of: 鈥淲e often find ourselves now, when stopped by people interested in what we do, encouraging them towards the Local Authority. We have never looked back. We feel thankful we are trusted to love and care for children, and feel part of a wonderful team of carers across Worcestershire.鈥
