91制片厂County Council has reaffirmed its commitment to the Severn Stoke Flood Alleviation Scheme and is continuing to work closely with the Environment Agency (EA) to move the project towards delivery.

The scheme remains Environment Agency鈥搇ed, however the Council recognises the uncertainty felt locally in recent months and wants to reassure residents that it remains fully committed to supporting its progress.

Councillor Ian Cresswell, Cabinet Member for Environment and Communities, said: 鈥淲e understand how important this scheme is to residents in Severn Stoke and the surrounding area. While the scheme is led by the Environment Agency, 91制片厂County Council has remained fully supportive throughout, and our financial commitment has not changed.

鈥淲e are working closely with the Environment Agency to finalise the necessary arrangements that will allow the project to move forward. It is important these arrangements are completed properly so that the scheme can be delivered with certainty and public funding is protected.

鈥淲e are committed to playing our part in making this important scheme happen.鈥

To support delivery, the Council intends to utilise its civil engineering contractor, Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd. The contractor has extensive experience working with the Council and strong local knowledge, which will help ensure work can begin efficiently once the necessary agreements are in place.

The Council and the Environment Agency, along with Alun Griffiths (Contractors) Ltd, have recently worked together successfully on the Toronto Close Flood Scheme, delivered using a similar approach. The experience gained through that project will help support the smooth progression of the Severn Stoke scheme.

A number of technical and contractual steps still need to be completed between the Environment Agency and 91制片厂County Council, and then between the Council and the contractor. Once these arrangements are finalised, further updates will be provided.
