Whether it鈥檚 finishing that book on your bedside table, discovering a new favourite author, reading with your children, or simply enjoying a few pages each day, 91制片厂residents are invited to make 2026 a year of reading!
The online Reading Pledge Wall, launched by 91制片厂County Council鈥檚 Library Service, offers a space for you to set one (or more!) reading goals for the year. Add your pledge and join a community celebrating the joy and possibilities of reading across Worcestershire.
Pledges can be simple: read more often, try a new genre, explore audiobooks, or participate in library events. Each pledge is a small step toward making more time for reading, and inspiration is everywhere on the wall.
As part of the National Year of Reading 2026, the digital pledge wall encourages people of all ages to reflect on their reading goals and share them with the community. All pledges will be visible throughout the year, offering ideas and motivation for fellow readers.
Councillor Ian Cresswell, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Environment and Communities, said: 鈥淭he Reading Pledge Wall is a fantastic way to set a reading goal and share it with others. Whether it鈥檚 picking up a book more often, trying a new genre, or reading together as a family, every pledge celebrates the joy of reading.鈥
As screen time increases, the Reading Pledge Wall offers an opportunity for families to balance digital time with the benefits of reading, making it a regular part of their lives. Reading regularly benefits all ages, from boosting children鈥檚 imagination and confidence to supporting adult wellbeing and reducing stress.
