As part of International Compost Awareness Week (3 to 9 May), 91制片厂County Council is encouraging more residents to try home composting, supported by a discounted offer in partnership with GetComposting.com.

Residents can purchase a 220-litre Blackwall Compost Converter for just 拢10* plus delivery, a significant saving on the usual retail price of 拢49.99.

A spokesperson for 91制片厂County Council, said: 鈥淢ore than 30% of the average household鈥檚 waste can be composted. While many residents already compost at home, we want to encourage even more people to get involved, and this offer provides a great incentive to get started.

鈥淐omposting organic waste at home not only reduces the amount of waste sent for disposal, but also helps cut carbon emissions. Now is the perfect time for residents to begin separating and composting organic materials such as fruit and vegetable peelings, tea bags, eggshells and coffee grounds.

鈥淗ome composting is a simple, sustainable solution that also rewards residents with a free, nutrient-rich compost for gardens.鈥

Home composting is easy to get started with, and many people are surprised by how much household and garden waste can be reused in this way. It also provides a cost-effective alternative to chargeable garden waste collections, while producing high-quality compost that can be used as a soil improver, mulch or plant feed, and helps gardens retain moisture.

The Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP) estimates that using a home compost bin can divert around 150 kilogrammes of waste per household from the waste stream each year.

Since partnering with Get Composting in 2010, 91制片厂County Council has sold more than 20,000 bins.

A wide range of compost bins and accessories is available for both beginners and experienced gardeners. To find out more or place an order, visit or call 0844 571 4444.
