Inventions for defense purposes often have found their way in to every day use. This talk highlights some of those that emerged in the war / post war period and came from scientist based in Malvern. The ideas grew from a need to defend Britain in the build up to WWII and then in the Cold War. The inventions are now in common use and many of the users may be unaware of their origins and that they own examples of them! Mike Burstow is a former Electronics Engineer from Royal Radar Establishment (RRE) where he worked on a diverse range of defense related programmes. He joined Malvern Radar and Technolgy History Society (MRATHS) team in 2011and is now their lead for public engagement.
